Tory Leather
Founded in 1976 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Tory Leather Company began with the humble but intentional mission of creating durable, beautifully made leather goods for the equine industry. Working with horses and riders, accessories such as stirrups, bridles, and reins informs the meticulous standard of reliability needed to become successful as a leather purveyor, and nearly five decades later, that same dedication remains at the foundation of every piece that leaves their production lines, which are all proudly still kept domestic in the United States to this day.
At the heart of Tory’s reputation is its use of Wickett & Craig leather, another American company famed for producing some of the finest vegetable-tanned hides. This leather is drum dyed, then carefully filled with specific blends of oils and waxes to enhance its color, feel, and longevity, resulting in a product that is instantly recognizable as quality. As with all high quality leathers, the other respected hallmark is the development of a natural patina over time which can’t be achieved if corners are cut, or shoddy workmanship is involved. Overall, Tory stands out as one of the few remaining brands still committed to American tanning and Old World craftsmanship. Each belt design is cut, stitched, and finished by hand, often by skilled Amish artisans who have been with the company for generations.
Tory’s current product range showcases both classic and contemporary styles that have a tie in to equine backgrounds - this can be seen distinctly through styles such as the 2377 and 2193 styles for their use of specific and custom metal hardware. Other styles such as 2260 and 2717 are less headstrong in their design cues and offer classic looks, but still have subtle nods to their unique origin story. Our seasonal selection is a concise curation of their overall range, and we’re looking forward to finally having these available online.
