One Ear Brand

One Ear Brand is a unique company specializing in the culturally relevant accessory known as the bandana. Helmed by Jonathan Lukacek who’s studied textiles and bandana history in Japan for over a decade, he works with artist Yurika Shika to develop original visual concepts which are then hand printed and constructed in Japan. Jonathan also curated the Kapital bandana museum in Okayama, Japan, Kapital being a brand that is exceptionally well renowned for their iconic bandanas.

This season we’re pleased to bring in an assortment of their recent bandana offerings, each style carrying a curious name and exceptionally thoughtful origin story. For example, one of our favourites being the ‘LOL Bean’ bandana features an array of ducks, flying across a pattern of grassy marshes with a dog trotting along. The artwork is a nod to vintage L.L.Bean blankets from the 1930’s depicting similar imagery, and is reinterpreted by the brand with a colour scheme inspired by Japanese Mingei pottery.

As you can see, there is a clear line of thought and intention toward every aspect of the bandanas One Ear Brand chooses to produce, which is a something we really admire and can get behind. Each piece of printed cloth is a tactile work of art that not only serves a variety of uses, but also reminds us of the rich culture that surrounds our every day lives.
