Healthknit - Thermal King Waffle and Raschel Honeycomb

We tend to search through our closets and drawers as it gets colder, digging out old sweaters and knits that spark a familiar sense of joy. We remember the past, and look forward to the future. A specific garment that seems to always be abundant during this time is the thermal. It’s likely due to the blend of function and aesthetic, the humble thermal serves a great functional purpose while being extremely humble and tactile.

This season, we’re bringing in the ‘King’ of thermals, by lifestyle sportswear brand Healthknit. The ‘Thermal King’ Waffle pieces we’ve chosen include both tops and bottoms composed of a hefty, yet lofty cotton knit. They’re particularly notable since they are akin to vintage thermals worn in the 60’s, but woven and constructed with modern yarns and operations, making a contemporary garment that’s honestly informed by the past. Every garment is intended to be worn as a comfy inner garment at home or  used as a base layer when the temperature demands it. The Long Johns come in classic grey and black colours, while the Crewneck features a special pigment dye that adds a worn in look to the cozy piece.

For those interested in diversifying their winter base layers this season, we’ve brought in a special thermal style from sportswear purveyor Healthknit. The design is based on the same garments worn by the U.S Navy in the 60’ for arctic expeditions, which has been reimagined with modern technology and production standards. Aptly named ‘Raschel Honeycomb’, two styles are introduced that use this special three dimensional knit which is notable for its superb ability to regulate body temperature by retaining pockets of heat within its unique fabric structure when temperatures are frigid, and then thanks to its innately high moisture absorbency, it can also quickly wick away sweat when transitioning to warmer, indoor environments. We’ve brought in a really pleasant cardigan style, as well as a classic crewneck top with a slight damaged treatment, making it feel characteristically lived in.
