With summer right around the corner, we are excited to announce the arrival of our first delivery from drypond, a contemporary eyewear brand based locally in Vancouver, British Columbia.
drypond has roots overseas from Shenzhen and Hong Kong and is informed by the culture surrounding vintage frames from Europe and America. The name ‘drypond’ originates from the phrase ‘Han Tang’, a nickname given to the distinct neighbourhoods adjacent to the location of the prestigious eyewear factory. Each drypond piece is meticulously crafted and produced from start to finish by a family owned factory that has been specializing in eyewear for almost a half century.
For our first delivery, we have brought in three versatile styles, the DP_1001, DP_1003, and DP_1005. The first two models offer a sophisticated riff on the classic wayfarer shape with memorable updates that refresh the look and come in a multitude of attractive colourways. They are finished with a five bar hinge construction that gives the classic 2 ‘dots’ found around the edges of the frames. The DP_1005 is a bit more unique, showcasing a rounded shape and comes in a distinctly balanced tone of gold and emerald. The lightweight and stylish character of these frames is an attractive departure from the norm.
Italian acetate is the material of choice for each frame which carries a very natural feel and smooth gloss with a beautiful, semi-transparent finish. Metal, ion plated nose pads, UV protected lenses, and ergonomic design lines are thoughtful additions that ensure effortless comfort and daily wearbility. Finally, a sleek custom protective leather case comes with each frame, translating drypond’s commitment to establishing their high standards in the world of eyewear.
