Beyond Tides

As we reach the end of another year, we continue to reflect on the path that’s led us to where we are. Over the years and seasons, we stay mindful of the relationships we’ve built along the way, and are hopeful that we can keep fostering meaningful connections with unique brands that present a one-of-a-kind worldview that resonates with ours.

One such brand that we’re excited to introduce is Ed Robert Judson, an exceptional leatherware brand founded in 2009 by designer Satoshi Ezaki. The name carries a playful origin, stemming from the term ‘Edo’ which refers to the former name of Tokyo, and combining it with the names of scientist Robert Hooke and inventor Whitcomb L. Judson - two notable historical figures who influence the ethos of the brand. The end result is Ed Robert Judson, who Ezaki describes as a fictional craftsman.

We happen to be the first Canadian stockist of Ed Robert Judson, and felt the spark right away when we visited their showroom in Tokyo. The range of goods that the brand produces is distinctly in a zone of its own. There is a clear intention for esoteric flourish through incorporating industrial ideas with classic and modern aesthetics. Unexpected materials and forms create a unique design language that can be quite clearly observed through the memorable look and function of the Coil Spring Coin Case, one of the highlights of this inaugural delivery. Functionality in each accessory is also executed in a very considered way that clearly demonstrates how the user’s experience is prioritized. Pieces such as the Frame Purse and Half Wallet feature familiar ergonomic components but somehow feels unexpected and refreshing. Also, the distinctly shaped and coloured zipper compartments featured across the Magic Purse also imbue a cheeky sense of surprise. It’s a very minor tweak to the classic zip wallet design, but makes it feel effortlessly chic and reliable.

The full delivery from Ed Robert Judson will be available on our website on November 6th, 2026.
